FastCat plans to start Batangas-Puerto Galera by end of the year
The president of the company that operates the fastest Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) vessels in the country, said that if it was possible he would have one FastCat ferry providing service for Puerto Galera tomorrow.
However, Christopher Pastrana, president of Archipelago Philippine Ferries Corp. (APFC), needs to build a ramp worth around 10 million pesos in a space to be allocated by the PPA at Balatero port which he said will take “conservatively” until the end of the year.
APFC has a fleet of 10 brand new, double-hull catamarans, all purchased from Australia, called FastCat or Fast Catamaran and is known to provide not only fast, safe and convenient transport services to passengers, but also an efficient and economical solution to the shipping concerns of businesses.

Pastrana said the he will be talking with his staff to figure out a way if it’s possible to use Balatero port even without the ramp. He said that the FastCat may, for the meantime, just carry passengers and no vehicles while the ramp is being built. If this would be possible, then FastCat may be available sooner than expected.
FastCat speed is from 18 to 20 knots which means travel time to Puerto Galera will only take less than 1 hour, even better than the fastcraft now operating in Puerto Galera.
Pastrana said he will be meeting with both the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and MARINA for the 2 round-trip service that he will initially offer in Puerto Galera. The schedule will be announced here once available.
Meanwhile, many resort owners welcome the entry of FastCat in the Batangas-Puerto Galera route. They said that FastCat would be a “game changer”.
“ FastCat is the ideal ferry for Puerto Galera tourism. It is fast, safe and convenient.”
